TECHQUEST’24 (ACM-DBIT)

On the 25th of September 2024, ACM-DBIT, in collaboration with the Student Council, conducted a fun event called TECHQUEST'24 as part of the Engineer’s Day celebrations at DBIT. The event was structured so that participants had to complete a series of tasks organized by various clubs and student chapters within a set time frame. The winner was determined based on a points system.

The event, organized by ACM-DBIT, unfolded in the following steps:

  1. Participants were required to decipher a given sentence using ASCII values, which were displayed on the board.
  2. Participants played a game called DASH, developed during TEKNACK’24, and attempted to beat the high score, which was set at 35.
  3. Participants had to determine the outcome of a logical circuit displayed before them. They then compared the output with a pen drive placed on the teacher’s desk and inserted the pen drive into a laptop.
  4. Upon accessing the pen drive, participants were tasked with opening folders, entering passwords into password-protected files provided by volunteers, and compiling the code present in the files using an online compiler.
  5. All tasks had to be completed within 20 minutes.

The event was held at Comps Centres 1 & 2, where the games took place. Each row was assigned two volunteers to assist:

  • Row 1: Mr. Neville D’Souza (Asst. Admin. Head), Mr. Cyril Sibichan (Asst. Sponsorship Head)
  • Row 2: Mrs. Manya Shah (Asst. Design Head), Mrs. Serah Francis (Asst. Secretary)
  • Row 3: Mrs. Tushita Patil (Asst. Publicity Head), Mr. Austin Joy (Asst. PR Head)
  • Row 4: Mrs. Tanisha Raorane (Vice Chairperson)
  • Row 5: Mr. Ayush Sawant (Asst. Tech Head)

Mr. Joshua Menezes (Chairperson) assisted in ensuring the smooth conduct of the overall process.

Teams began entering the venue at 11:15 AM, with 4 teams per slot. Volunteers ensured that each team was assigned to a row and kept track of time to ensure no team exceeded the 20-minute limit. The competition was intense, as the teams showed great effort and competitiveness. Many teams completed the tasks in nearly identical timeframes, but key moments of pressure caused some to stumble, making the competition even more thrilling.

At the conclusion of the event, team leaders were handed a ticket signifying that they had completed all tasks from the respective student chapters. Once they received the ticket, they could proceed to the next student chapter. The team that completed the event the fastest was Team Singles, who set a record time of 7 minutes.
