
TEKNACK INDUCTION MEET 2024
On October 8th, 2024, ACM-DBIT conducted a meeting with students of DBIT, led by the main spokesperson, Mr. Andre Fernandes (Product Designer, ACM-DBIT). The discussion centred around the upcoming event, Teknack‘25, which aims to foster innovation and practical technical application where students learn to develop and showcase their innovative games.Andre explained that the event will follow a structured flow which is as follows:
- Training: Participants will undergo preliminary training to sharpen their skills.
- Ideation: Teams will brainstorm and come up with innovative project ideas.
- Initial Development: Teams will begin working on the first phase of their project development.
- UI Enhancement: A focus will be placed on improving the user interface of the project.
- Final Development: The projects will be polished and completed.
- Deployment: The final step will involve deploying the developed solutions.
This is how the participants were given a clear understanding of the event's format and expectations.
Additionally, Andre announced the guest speaker for the upcoming Unity workshop scheduled for October 10th and 11th. Mr. Jigar Bhanushali, with over 10 years of experience in teaching Unity, will lead the workshop, offering students valuable insights into the platform.
During the Q&A session, students posed several questions, including how mentors would be assigned. Andre explained that mentors will be allotted once groups have been formed. Another question addressed the system requirements for Unity, and it was clarified that Unity is compatible with most systems, negating the need for a dedicated graphics card.
Furthermore, Mr. Joshua Menezes (Chairperson, ACM-DBIT) announced that this year we believe Teknack should go in a slightly different direction and hence we are trying to integrate the Gamification concept into the game development process. He also mentioned the award categories for Teknack and also announced the new addition of the best Gamification integration Award.
The meeting concluded with Ms. Tanisha Raorane (Vice-Chairperson, ACM-DBIT) announcing the UNITY workshop timings, which will begin at 9 AM on October 10th and 2 PM on October 11th.
